Stephen Chalmers, 83 Jamaica St., 1866 - 1868

Typical studio portraits of the period with simple furnishings and no backdrop and a centralised design on the back. The design on the back, and the plinth are similar to those used by the Chalmers Brothers in the period 1863 - 1868 nearby. The use of the Christian name on the card is unusual - perhaps, if he was one of the brothers, he wished to stress his separate identity in a new studio.
