John Flounders, 22 Argyle St., 1856 - 1860

Cased and hand tinted ambrotype probably from the later part of this period. The design on the case is the same as that used by Dickson on or after 1858. The outer case is 7.3 by 6.2 cms, the glass negative is 6.1 by 4.7, approximately ninth plate size, the two halves of which are closed by an external latch. The inner brass or pinchbeck frame and mask are held in a velvet surround, and faced by an embossed velvet cushion.
