Though he identifies himself only as a portrait painter, he had taken the trouble to have his own cdv cards prepared. He shared the address with William Hall, with whom he obviously had a business relationship. The card was printed by Mason, which puts the date in the mid 1880s. There is no record of Thomson in the trade directories.
